As I understand It – 1 John 1:7 (NIV)

7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

As I Understand It – Psalms 119:148 (NIV)

April 4, 2020

148 My eyes stay open through the watches of the night, that I may meditate on your promises.

Do his eyes stay open because he cannot sleep or because he has determined that he will meditate on God’s promises?

Is his sleepless night a continuation or some part of verse 147, ” I rise before dawn and cry for help; I have put my hope in your word.” Having already put his trust in the word of God, he cries to God as a reminder of his trust.

If it is his decision to rise before dawn, we assume it was also his decision to stay awake and meditate on God’s word.

Does it matter? The key is that God has made promises, and we activate those promises by meeting the conditions.

Psalms 119:149 (NIV) 149 Hear my voice in accordance with your love; preserve my life, O LORD, according to your laws.
