As I understand It – 1 John 1:7 (NIV)

CONSTANT GOD – God On Pause – For The Season By Christian Radio

December 3, 2014

It is the holiday season, and that means it’s time for Christian radio to take its annual vacation from the Gospel. The world owns this time of year and generally dominates in all matters of commerce, and commerce dominates in all other matters. Christian radio just wants to fit in.

It’s already begun. Christian radio is blazing the music of their season; turkey and mistletoe, red-nosed reindeer, a jolly fat man in a red suit, jingling bells, Jack Frost nipping at your nose, merriment for all, sleigh rides, . . Jesus is nowhere.

Perhaps the absence of the good news on Christian radio is for only a small portion of the broadcast day — really not an interruption of mission? Nothing more than a peace offering to the world. After the season, Christian radio stations will continue our warfare with the secular world, such that it is.

Should Christian radio stations abdicate their responsibilities during this time? Even for a moment? What of those with a present need, those who don’t know You? Must they wait until after the season to be introduced to You? to hear Your word? Why?

Not to worry, it’s Xmas, and Christian radio deserves a break!
