Luke 2:13-14 (NKJV) 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: 14 “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”
This was how He began, before the birth in the manger. Before the gifts of the wise men. And before His death on the Cross and Resurrection.
It is not the baby we serve. We gain nothing if we do not move past the beautiful child in the manger who was worshiped and hailed from afar. We must see the one who came to take residence here in our hearts and rule not the world but us. The world can only change as we change it. And we have power through Him.
The Gift
I needed to be rescued. I just couldn’t take it anymore!
At my lowest point, I cried out from embarrassment and need, and He sent me a baby.
Never mind that I’m already stretched to my limit– this baby starts kicking, making demands, growing inside of me, controlling what I do, what I say, what I hear. Pushing away all the mess, declaring himself King, and making me strong.
Matthew 2:1-4 (KJV) 1Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, 2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. 3 When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. 4 And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.
